For those of you that don't know, 3DNA was a skinable interactive desktop replacement, that reached it's peak about 3 to 4 yrs ago. Featuring many customizable worlds and skyboxes, it drew in artists of all types and scope, and seemed destined to a bright future... they were developing a new prototype for commercial and promotional use, as well as the promise of a new home version and had actually reached the beta testing stage. Most importantly, they had a very large, friendly and thriving community of users and themers, primed to purchase the new product.
But something was happening behind the webpages that started the company's decline, long before it became an empty shell; key people were drifting away, revenues drying up, and a seeming inability to capitalize on their customer base. All those factors contributed to it's demise, but there were probably other reasons that will never be known. Today the only thing functioning on the site, is the purchasing system which is still sucking in the unwary and still making money for somebody. The downloads section is broken, and the forum is mainly offline, but sometimes reappears for a few days. The Japanese site hasn't faired any better, and seems abandoned as well.
Blizzbaby (an ardent themer, and ex-part-time employee) has a 3DNA site but it hasn't been updated since early 2008, unfortunately her site is gone now too. A program that seemed to employ a few ex-3DNA employees, Touchpoint Studio, is also now gone. You can also find some of the old 3DNAer's at Oz's (another fantastic 3DNA artist) site.
So if you're one of those folks that purchased it recently, or just want to reinstall 3DNA for old times sake, you'll find all the worlds, most of my themes and skies and whomever else's stuff that I can find, in my Mediafire© 3DNA Collection folder.
3DNA was a fun program, that brought a little adventure to one's desktop, and looked to have an interesting future... it's unfortunate that it died before it's time.
It looks like I may be one of the last places to find 3DNA worlds themes and skies, very sad. I'll keep hosting the files for as long as I can.
